When the Story Falls Apart: Working with the elements of reactivity
October 15, 2015 @ 7:30 pm - October 18, 2015 @ 1:00 pm$445.00
The heart of our practice is to be awake in every aspect of our lives and to work deeply with the barriers that prevent this from arising. This retreat will focus on working directly with the emotional patterns that prevent us from being present in our moment-to-moment experience. We will be using the framework of the five elements to identify and experience the various reaction chains that form the way we habitually respond to our everyday world. The elements of earth, water, fire, air, and void describe a spectrum of energy from form (earth) to emptiness (void) and each expresses a particular way of interacting and responding to experience.
During the retreat you will have an opportunity to understand how these elemental chains work and to feel them moving in your body. Everyone has one or two elements which feel more familiar and reaction chains where we instinctively go in times of stress. This retreat will provide the tools to develop a clear experience with each of the elements and their related reactive patterns. When the reactive nature of each element is released in awareness, the energy is freed to power attention. The higher levels of attention open up the nonreactive qualities of each element which uncovers a corresponding aspect of awakened or pristine awareness.
The retreat will begin on Thursday evening, October 15th at 7:30 PM and conclude on Sunday after lunch on October 18th . The retreat is at Mercy Center Auburn (www.mercycenter.org). The cost of the retreat is $445 which covers a single room, all meals and teacher contribution. We have a limited number of rooms so please register early.
