Illusory Body – A Vajrayanna Approach to Awakened Awareness
April 18, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - April 22, 2018 @ 1:00 pm$575
During this four day retreat, we will teach the Illusory Body practice which is one of the fundamental practices of the Shangpa Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. Illusory Body practice works directly with the energy systems in the body leading to a complete opening to awakened awareness. This is a powerful practice designed to break through our habitual ways of being in the world, particularly deeply entrenched habitual patterns of attraction and aversion to experience.
In addition, we will also teach the Empty Ah meditation which is the primary method of purification in the Shangpa lineage. This purification practice is designed to refine experience leading to the direct perception of the phenomenal world which forms an important basis for Illusory Body.
These practices form the core teachings of the Shanga Pa lineage that was transmitted to the West by Kalu Rinpoche. We are very fortunate to have an approachable English translation done by Ken McLeod which we will use during the retreat.
This retreat is recommended for experienced meditators who have a foundation in both calming and insight meditation. If you have not participated in a previous retreat with us, we ask that you fill out a short application. We will contact you to determine if this is a suitable retreat.
