Anger and Compassion in Turbulent Times
April 10 @ 7:00 pm - April 14 @ 1:00 pm$595
We live in a world that has become increasingly divisive, inflammatory, and violent. Our reaction to many events is often anger or even rage. This retreat will focus on how to work directly with these strong reactions. We will not be concerned about the causes for anger nor will we focus on how to fix it or get rid of it. We will explore the very nature of anger – how it arises in us and how to work directly with it in practice. We will be using its power to move into an experience that is not mediated by conceptual mind and through that process open the door to a level of compassion that is not mitigated by social or political views. This is sometimes referred to as non-referential compassion.
We will be teaching a sequence of practices during the retreat. First, we will be working with the six realms of existence and the styles of reactivity in each realm. Then, we will engage the practice of taking and sending, sometimes referred to as exchanging self for others. Using these practices as a foundation, we will introduce the Dzog Chen practice of using the energy of anger directly and transforming this energy into clarity and compassion.
The cost of the retreat is $595 and covers single room accommodations and all meals. If you wish to participate, please send a check for the full amount by March 1st. Checks should be made out to Clear Mountain Wisdom and sent to: Dan Jorgensen, 13118 Thistledown Court, Auburn, CA.
